Group 3 De Tomaso Pantera
When you think of the GT racing categories in the seventies you most likely think of the Porsche 911 RS and the later rather scary turbo charged Porsche 934 and 935. If you prefer your cars more Italian then you most likely you will think of the Competizione versions of the Daytona. Either way I suspect the De Tomaso Pantera doesn't come obviously to mind.
In actual fact De Tomaso homologated the Pantera in the Group 3 and 4 categories, and I believe one of two may even have been upgraded to the more extreme Group 5 category. The cars achieved some success including class wins at the Nurgburgring and Spa 1000Km races but they never as succeddful as their rivals from the more famous brands.
The car featured here is the first of 34 Panteras built to Group 3 specification and was raced extensively in Italy in the Seventies. This rather well produced video is clearly intended to assist with advertising the car which is currently for sale (the advert on classicforsale is here), also features an interview with its orginal driver who goes by the name of Spiffero. The interview is subtiltled although some of the translation is probably a little wonky.
Along with this video there is also an onboard video of the car lapping Spa, although the wind noise from the external speaker does rather affect the sound.
