Spotted in the Wild: Porsche 356 Speedster Replica

Cultism

A tastefully kitted out classic Porsche replica is spotted in Los Angles.

Genuine Porsche 356 Speedsters in good condition are routinely trading hands for as much as $200,000 these days. Unless your name is Ralph Lauren, then cars that old and valuable don’t really lend themselves to the daily driver or even weekend toy categories.

It’s this reason that’s making Speedster replicas and restomods an increasingly popular option, as there’s less obligation to maintain a replica as a piece of history. Plus, you can fit newer brakes that will actually work, make some engine tweaks for a little extra shove or even add a modern stereo to blast some GnR while you cruise around Hollywood near where this beauty was spotted.

What we appear to have here (I can’t be sure since these pics were sent to me by a friend) is a Porsche 356A 1600 Super Speedster replica. Whatever it is, it’s a very cool car. The front bumper is very minimal and the rear bumper has been removed giving it an uncluttered look. The flared fenders, wider dished wheels and lowered suspension make it look almost sinister.

The black paint combined with the red interior is a nice color combination, but we might switch out the steering wheel and gauges for something a little more retro. All in all, though, this is a great car that you could drive for fun most days of the week without fear loosing out on residuals.
